Living Again
Unlock Your True Potential With Life Coaching Services
In 1990, after my husband died, I was told with another widow about a program in Chicago IL called Joyful Again. We weren’t sure how we would ever be joyful again after our loss but my parish priest sponsored our trip and the rest is history. We each had four children and thought about starting a Joyful Again in our parish, but both of us were a little skeptical. After joyful again we felt so compelled that we brought that program to our parish.
We contacted Joyful Again and received all the information and the videos that we needed to start a program. The first program I was involved in was in the Midwest, my parish in Las Vegas, Holy Spirit Parish, is now sponsoring this dynamic program. We are privileged to be a chapter of this incredible weekend journey. It takes a great deal of energy to organize a weekend retreat. But what I found with the other ministers who helped me in this program, there’s great enthusiasm by individuals who’ve been through the program to help with ongoing programs.
The insight that Father Laz and his team in Chicago have given through the videos, handouts and suggestions for the program are invaluable. Each time we finish a program we ask our participants to evaluate their experience. It is overwhelmingly positive and when we receive information from widows or widowers who have been through it a year or two years ago they feel like it set a new course for their grief journey.
This program is one of many in a grief ministry at our parish. The following is our mission statement and scripture for all our programs to include Joyful Again.
New Beginnings Grief Ministry Mission Statement
If one member suffers in the body of Christ which is the Church, all the members suffer with that member (1 Cor 12:26).
NEW BEGINNINGS
A Ministry of Hope, Healing and Consolation
New Beginnings is a Bereavement Ministry designed to provide support to Christian individuals who have experienced traumatic loss in their lives. The grieving process can cause a sense of feeling disconnected, dismayed and can fill the individual with a sense of hopelessness and despair. New Beginnings offers several services that will gently accompany the bereaved and the parish community in their adjustment to the fact of loss and to the sorrow this entails.
